Description

Position is for a Flexible Engine Diagnostic Test Stand (FEDS) Operator and Turbine Engine Mechanic. Must be a trained, certified Army FEDS Operator with two years experience working with T700/701C/D and 714 engines.

Services, removes, repairs, modifies, rebuilds, replaces and installs aircraft engines. Inspects engines to detect and diagnose malfunctions and isolates causes. Inspects turbine blades to detect cracks or breaks. Performs engine run-up operation tests. Removes and replaces worn or damaged parts and components. Disassembles and inspects parts for wear or other defects. Repairs or replaces defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces engine accessories. Uses common and special hand tools, also precision measuring and test equipment Follows schematics, safety procedures, military specification, standards and technical manuals to accomplish assigned tasks. Documents work performed in maintenance forms, records and workbooks.

This mechanic also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures manuals.

May be required to work in areas that are noisy, dusty and dirty. may be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching and climbing. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Will be required to comply with safety requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures Manual. may be required to wear personal protective equipment, where applicable.

This Mechanic must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

Qualifications

Experience: Must have a minimum of seven (7) years or five (5) years plus A&P license

Qualification: Completion of Military Technical Training or comparable Civilian Trade School is desired. A Powerplant license may be required for non-military aircraft. An A&P license will be considered equivalent to three (3) experience.

Certification: Must be certified to perform tasks specified in L-3 Vertex Contract Field Team Standard Operating Procedures Manual, if required to perform those tasks.
