CSC's Federal Consulting Practice is looking for a Senior Oracle Apps DBA Consultant
Oracle consultants play a leadership role on the project and are involved in all phases of a life cycle implementation, including blueprinting, gap analysis, mapping, prototypes, design, configuration, testing, go-live, user training and post production support. The consultant must be able to work with end users on the Oracle application's integration and functionality; determine those technology inadequacies and /or deficiencies that can affect the functional area's ability to support or meet the organizational goals as well as lead enterprise applications integration efforts and oversee the validation of the associated work products.
Critical Knowledge
Experience in implementing and support of the Oracle e-Business Suite 11 I and R12. Responsibilities include installation and configuration of Oracle EBS R12 with Oracle Database and 11.x clusterware , SOA, BPEL, OBIEE, SSO, ODI, Grid control . Additional duties include implementing SSL certification for Production & QA environments, creating a standby database using Data Guard, testing and implementing backup /recovery using RMAN, cloning environments from production and supporting users. Minimum of 5 - 10 years of overall Oracle experience in relevant areas.
Candidate must be local to the Charleston, SC area and eligible to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Essential Job Functions
Works independently within a business area and assists at the enterprise level to influence technical and data-related decisions during the architecture and development phases of the project (Technical).
Knows relevant issues and considerations in selecting DBMS software packages and vendors including their capabilities, clients who have installed them and user experiences (Technical).
Resolves issues for databases of all complexities (Technical).
Provides consulting support to projects during vision and strategy, architecture, and development phases (Methodology).
Leads a team of 6-10 resources (company, client and third-party resources) in area of expertise to conclusion of a project phase (Management).
Provides input in identifying issues and considerations for selecting business application packages and vendors (Business).
Manages client expectations and balances the needs of the company and clients to ensure satisfaction for both (Relationship Management).
Influences decisions and project direction at the executive level (Relationship Management).
Performs consultative selling and leverages business through superior delivery skills, client relations and subject matter expertise (Leverage).
Participates in proposal efforts and sales calls (Leverage).
Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel (Leadership).
Communicates in formal presentation settings including medium to large sized groups of key decision makers at the executive level; tailors presentations to needs and interests of the audience. Develops articles and white papers covering areas of expertise (Communication).
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Six or more years of consulting experience with data / database analysis and design
Experience working with CSC Catalyst and/or equivalent client or vendor-mandated methodology
Experience working with the client's enterprise products, services, and strategies
Experience working with two or more database management systems (DBMS) on two technical platforms
Other Qualifications
Two to five years of additional relevant experience in one or more technical specialty areas
Good database performance modeling and benchmarking skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to deal with and resolve ambiguity
Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action, giving regard to the impact on both the client and the company
Ability to adjust personal style to different situations
Willingness to travel
