Sonoco is looking for an Organizational Development Manager to work from our headquarters in Hartsville, SC. This professional will be working in collaborat! ion with talented HR professionals, creative leaders from diff! erent areas of expertise as well as external thought leaders. This position has responsibilities for people development processes and projects of global impact.

Position Profile

The Manager of Organizational Development supports talent and organization development to accomplish business objectives. This professional designs and leads the implementation of processes and programs of global application to enhance individual, team and organizational capabilities.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Organizational Development, this senior OD role is one of an individual contributor who works collaboratively with a variety of functions as well as closely with HR Business Partners.

This position is within the HR development path and potential next career moves include the Director of Organizational Development position as well as an HR generalist role, depending on candidate’s aspirations and professional background.

Key Responsibi! lities

Manages the global performance management process. This includes having an in-depth understanding and being the trainer and point of contact for our business units globally

Manages the corporate sponsored leadership training programs. This includes building and maintaining a positive working relationship with external partners, ensuring the content is current and relevant to our ever changing business needs, working with internal customers to identify nominees for participation, and handling the coordination and logistics for program delivery

Leads key organizational development projects and processes such as coaching, mentoring, and 360 assessments with global application

Coordinates efforts around diversity including, but not limited to, supporting the Diversity Council, coordinating statistics, information and communication around diversity

Conducts research and analyzes data to determine and evaluate best practices on ! talent management initiatives and formulates recommendations to address! business needs

Creates proposals and project plans to lead consensus-based decision making process for OD related topics

Designs management trainee programs across the different functions, with global application

Works with HR Information Systems group to manage the applications supporting talent management processes (PeopleSoft) as well as to measure the performance of such processes

Conducts internal analysis to measure skill gaps and identify overall needs related to organizational development

Provides consulting expertise and influences thinking on talent management initiatives, including organization analysis, design and realignment as well as change management, culture integration, talent attraction, development and engagement

Develops communication plans and prepares communications for a variety of audiences.

Develops and delivers presentations for large teams and senior management.

Required Ski! lls

Experience in implementing talent management processes within large companies/ corporate environment, global organizations

Ability to translate complex issues into models and frameworks that are both theoretically sound and actionable

Excellent communication skills, emphasis on presentation, facilitation, verbal and written, with the ability to articulate a compelling point of view that incorporates business language with relevant examples

Excellent interpersonal skills; assertiveness;

Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage an initiative from inception through completion; from the strategic view to the daily details

Ability to focus on critical issues to balance and respond to competing priorities

Ability to work independently, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, leading and influencing partners to ensure integrated execution

High level of energy, optimist! ic; history of establishing strong positive working relationships
Track record of continuous improvement approach to work, seeking opportunities for process improvement

Experience in supporting organizational change initiatives and track record of success in partnering with business leaders

Knowledge and application of organizational development theory, organization design methodologies as well as practical business acumen

Strong analytical, diagnostic and consulting skills

Excellent computer skills

Experience in working with different countries and cultures preferred

Prior experience as a HR generalist preferred

Required Experience

A Master’s degree in Human Resources or a MBA strongly preferred

Minimum 7 years experience in talent management related roles, such as a leadership development, change management, learning, and organization design
