Position Information
Position is responsible for providing comprehensive registration for customers presenting to the Emergency Department with medi! cal emergencies. Position requires attention to detail and cri! tical thinking skills to prioritize workload in a fast paced environment with ability to deliver unsurpassed customer service to patients/families in stressful situations. Responsibilities include maintaining visible position in ED lobby, greeting arriving patients, gathering pertinent data for proper patient identification, and placing ID band on patient. Position requires engaging the triage nurse immediately for patients presenting with cardiac complaints, stroke symptoms, and other emergencies. Responsible for collecting financial and demographic information, verifying active insurance for maximum reimbursement, obtaining signatures for general consent, and scanning documents into the electronic ED chart. Performs all duties and assignments promoting the Wake Way and supports the Mission and Values at WakeMed.
Experience Requirements :
One year experience in health care setting with working knowledge of insurance and managed care required. Basic unde! rstanding of Medicare and Medicaid preferred. Medical Terminology and basic medical diagnosis preferred. Prior customer service experience in a health care setting preferred.

High school graduate required. Associate degree or college courses in business or related field preferred.
