Position Summary :
The Site Coordinator works independently on a daily basis to ensure the efficient running of the medical pr! actice site; and works to proactively identify and provide remedies for operational challenges.
Responsibilities :
Oversees and manages the daily operations of the site including staff scheduling, cash reconciliation, charge entry, and operational checks and balances. Schedules surgery for patients by telephone or in person by performing the following duties: Coordinates physician, hospital, and patient schedules, to set surgery appointments with the hospital; Enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler; Verifies insurance coverage and establishes appropriate payment plans for patient payments ; Pre-certifies procedures by providing clinical information to insurance companies; Sends physician orders to the appropriate facility for pre-operative testing. Provides recommendations and follow up actions to operational inefficiencies. Work with Billing Department to ensure A/R is optimally liquidated, denials are minimized, refunds are issued! , and customer service is conducted appropriately. Provides mo! nthly reporting with recommendations or action plans on any issues.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in business or other related field preferred. A minimum of one year supervisory experience working in a health care setting. Able to communicate with wide range of individuals from staff to physicians and outside management. Knowledge of ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, EOB and insurance reimbursement. HIPAA, ADA, FMLA familiarity a plus. Proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Office products and medical billing office software.
