The position of Insurance Claims Specialist oversees property or casualty loss insurance claims from inception through closing.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees property or casualty loss insurance claims from inception through closing.
- Ensures each claims investigation occurs by direct contact with associates, supervisors and other witnesses, as appropriate, to collect information
- Works with the Insurance Claims Manager on all insurance claims (i.e. Workersâ Compensation, General Liability, Auto, Cargo, Cyber, etc).
- Coordinates and administers a variety of activities associated with determining validity, assessing liability and risks, and negotiating monetary
- Manages, develops, tracks and reports to Insurance Claims Manager on CFC safety incentive data.
- Develops goals for ESH and all MSC locations to reduce risk from all types of claims (i.e. Workerâs Compensation, General Liabi! lity, Auto, Cargo, Cyber,
- E! nsures compliance with all fifty state Workersâ Compensation Board requirements and other locations where MSC operates.
- Develops and oversees national network of appropriate medical facilities for MSC.
- Works closely with Human Resources to ensure compliance with State Workersâ Compensation laws.
- Coordinates all incident and injuries using an internal database and insurance carrier database.
- Runs daily reporting to ensure accuracy of Incident/Injury data entered by CFC Management.
- Provides weekly metrics to management.
- Ensures daily case monitoring of Workersâ Compensation claims with restricted duties and lost time.
- Works with ESH Specialist in the CFCâs on updates, case management and medical restrictions.
- Creates queries and reports to summarize statistics and analysis trends using a RMIS database.
- Acts as a liaison between MSC and all insurance carriers, attorneys and doctors regardi! ng the establishment and handling of all claims.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Participates in internal and external conference or other groups to keep aware of current developments in safety techniques, methods and programs.
- Works cross-functionally with various internal and external teams.
- Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSCâs vision and unity of purpose.
- Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Two years of college or the equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of three years experience with insurance claims required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint or equi! valent required.
- Excellent time management, organizational and! follow up skills required.
- Understanding of Workersâ Compensation system required.
- Understanding of multi-state laws regarding Workersâ Compensation required.
- Proficiency in database software solutions required.
- A valid driverâs license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time are required.
