Job Description: Mechanical Engineer
Government Secure Solutions CGI (wholly owned subsidiary of CGI Federal) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (ME) to work in our Charleston, SC location. The ME will contribute to the design of mechanical structures and electromechanical products for Navy shipboard systems. The candidate will support multiple projects and contribute to the overall goal of meeting customer requirements to include, but not limited to; design of mechanical parts, support cabinet level drawing packages, contribute to configuration management and support engineering/integration efforts. Candidate must have experience in 3-D modeling and a complete understanding of configuration management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering subject (mechanical, automotive or aerospace). Currently, mechanical engineers wishing to become ch! artered must hold an Institution of Mechanical Engineers accre! dited degree to MEng level and at least four years' of vocational training with an accredited employer.
- Required to have 6-8 years related mechanical engineering experience,
- Excellent 3-D modeling skills using SolidWorks or similar modeling application
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Ability to understand initial design aspects of a system and support the integration and engineering teams with equipment mounting solutions
- Support integration and Engineering Department to resolve complex mechanical and/or technical issues
- Ability to work well with team members and senior management
- Verbal / Nonverbal - Convey easily and quickly any message; Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens attentively and seeks clarification; Responds well to questions; Maintain professional nonverbal communication a! nalogous to situation
- Written - Writes clearly and informatively with a high level of sophistication; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret complex written information.
- Experience with designing mounting solutions for COTS equipment is not mandatory but is highly desirable.
- Experience with fabrication, assembly, installation, schematic drawings and material specifications.
- Functional computer literacy with 3-D modeling and computer-assisted design (CAD) application or other drafting tools and specific proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Ability to quickly learn new design specifications and program requirements
