The Software Technical Manager position has direct responsibility for software engineering teams. This incumbent must have supervisory/leadership experience in a technical/development/project environment working across products, platforms and teams. Manage multiple simultaneous projects. Operational aspects of the job are essential. Influence decisions made around a! pplications, architecture, and infrastructure that impact mult! iple groups/projects. Begins to develop the management characteristics of others and focuses on leadership mentoring as well as technical mentoring. Provide input to senior management on the development of goals and objectives.

Essential Job Duties

Technology Management & Development:
Duties include operational and project leadership within the engineering discipline, writing system requirement documents, partnering with product owners/business leaders on requirements and software design on technical projects, working with the QA organization to integrate quality control. Support coding standards and apply uniformly across various programming disciplines. Occasional hands-on code or technical changes are required.

Functional/Organizational Management:
Manage a team of software engineers to maintain, architect, and design extensions to existing software products. Delegate assignments and projects and develop leadership skills ! in employees. Has supervisory responsibility including performance reviews, hiring/firing, assigning and managing work flow, resolving escalated issues, technical and mentoring, training, and coaching. Provide input to senior management on expense and capital budgeting. Staff may be in multiple locations (domestic and/or international).

Process & Delivery Management:
Maintain and enhance operational and development processes. Set processes for sustaining product. Mitigate issues and risks with stakeholders.. Collaborate with senior engineering manager to align goals and objectives. Duties include implementing and tracking development timelines, negotiating features and resources with wide ranging technical leads and stakeholders, and achieving set goals and objectives.. Occasional customer contact is required. Infrequent travel is required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in a software engineering discipline strongly preferred Experience

At least four years of experience in an applicable! software development or technical project environment
At least two years of demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory, lead, or project management role Knowledge/Skills

Familiarity/experience with Apache, JavaScript, PHP, C/C++, Oracle, SubVersion, and Linux strongly preferred
Familiarity/experience with agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, preferred
Ability to contribute in a hands-on capacity when necessary
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required
Ability to create designs based on the Architectural guidelines and development standards
Demonstrated results managing a team
Demonstrated success of establishing, leading, and maintaining effective working relationships
Able to delegate assignments and projects to subordinates
