Ensures that quality nursing care is rendered to patients in accordance with policies, procedures, and the standards of Nursing Service, Surgery Unit, and the Medical Center. He/she provides direct nursing care to individual and groups of surgery patients under guidance and directives of the unit supervisor. B ASIC REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship.
Physical Standards/Requirements: This position involves lifting, moving, and transporting of patients. The position involves exposure to blood borne! pathogens, fine manipulation, standing, walking, bending, cro! uching, and reaching patients. It requires dealing with the acutely ill, with patients who may display disturbed behaviors, and with stressful situations. Assisting with transferring patients to wheelchairs and/or may need to escort a patient to other areas.
Wearing of a respirator may be required at times in the performance of the duties of this position. *Heavy lifting: 45 lbs. and over; straight pulling: 4 hours; pushing: 5 hours; walking: 7 hours; standing: 7 hours. When required to use respirator, employee cannot have facial hair or any condition that interferes with the face to face piece seal or valve function of the respirator.

Licensure: Candidates must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurse in a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia, and must possess current, full active and unrestricted license registration of said license. Education: Graduate of! a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) at the time the program was completed by the applicant; or Health care education in the military service or training in the military which is accepted by the licensing body in the jurisdiction in which the individual is licensed as qualifying for full LPN/LVN licensure; or Individuals granted a license by a jurisdiction that does not require graduation from an approved school.
